Bald Head Island vacation rental tips and tricks:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • To get the best rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Carolina Beach attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, management companies supply Carolina Beach area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Seaglass - Waterfront, Incredible Views of BHI Creek, 3 Suites, Pool, Kayaks, BHI Club+Golf, Dogs OK has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
