Mike’s Bites is a relatively new addition to the Bald Head Island dining scene, and has a unique location in the old Cape Fear Light generator building on Federal Road, which is perfectly convenient for visitors who are checking out the new Barrier Island Study Center, or who are signing up for an educational activity at the Conservancy. Featuring an array of beachy fast food options and snacks that can be picked up from the small ordering counter, Mike’s Bites is a fast and friendly spot to satisfy a sweet or salty shoreside craving.
The menu is posted on the outside of the brick building, and has just enough variety to appeal to snack-sized and lunch-sized appetites alike. For an easy meal to enjoy on-site or on the sand, patrons can pick up a hot dog, sandwich, or kids’ PB&J, or can satisfy a sweet tooth with a variety of frozen goodies like creamiscle bars, ice cream sandwiches, and Choco Tacos. There’s also a selection of beverages, and both healthy and more indulgent snacks, like hummus and pretzels, or cookies and candy. With just enough to curb an appetite before a beach exploration, Mike’s Bites is a nice and easy spot for southern Bald Head Island vacationers.
