Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Southport vacation home experience:
Find your best deal:
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Reserve your Carolina Beach rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Carolina Beach area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting and booking the perfect Carolina Beach vacation home:
- First, have your family agree to the best dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. St James Vacation Condo\/TH Rental - Southport NC - Cottage Retreat has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
