Tips for getting the best Wilmington rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Carolina Beach area. To get the best value, change your family's Carolina Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Carolina Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to select the best vacation home in the Carolina Beach area:

  • First, have your family select date ranges and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Recondo-Downtown Walk Anywhere-Dog Friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
