Tips and Tricks to get the best Wilmington vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Carolina Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Carolina Beach area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, selecting, and booking the best Carolina Beach rental home:

  • Start by having your group choose trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Recondo-Downtown Walk Anywhere-Dog Friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
