Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Ocean Isle Beach. Reserve your Carolina Beach rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • In the Carolina Beach area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select your dates and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Float My Boat on the canal in OIB! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Carolina Beach rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your agreement.

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
