Booking the best Bald Head Island vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- To book the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Carolina Beach attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Carolina Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect rental home:
- Choose vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Unbelievable Location! 4 Bedroom \/ Ocean Front with private crofter and 2 golf carts has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Carolina Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the host before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
