"Balvenie" is located in Flora's Bluff on South Beach. We are right across from the beach with direct beach access just steps away! We have a reverse floor plan with the living room, dining and kitchen upstairs. Downstairs we have a king master suite, along with two other bedrooms. The 2nd bedroom is a queen room and the 3rd bedroom / nook is a twin bed with a trundle. Both rooms share a bathroom.

Sticking to a budget:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in Bald Head Island. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Carolina Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
