Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer months are high season in Wilmington. To get the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Carolina Beach area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Carolina Beach area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the perfect rental home in Wilmington:

  • First, have your family choose trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. The Magnolia: Serene Oasis Under Nature’s Canopy has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
