Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.

  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
