Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your Carolina Beach rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Carolina Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Renovated Keeper's Landing Cottage with 2 carts, bikes and beach gear awaits. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
