Tricks and tips to get the optimal Carolina Beach rental experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • To get the most suitable rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Carolina Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Carolina Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and pick your Carolina Beach rental home:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Reef Runner has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Carolina Beach rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
