Tips to get the best vacation home experience:

When to reserve a Carolina Beach rental home & When to go:

  • Summer is high season in Holden Beach. To find the best value, change your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select your vacation week and budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Lovely Canal Front Beach Cottage with Boat Dock and ICW Access has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
