Tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in Wilmington. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • To start, have your group decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Greenwood Home -Comfortable and quiet apartment has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
