If your vacation vibes lean towards lazy, sun-drenched afternoons and nostalgic memories of a bygone era, then let a stay at Ivy Cottage refresh your soul. Located among the dunes of East Beach, this comfortable oceanfront cabin welcomes two dogs and has a grassy, fenced backyard for your babies and fur-babies alike to play safely in as well as a roomy deck where you’re sure to spend hours listening to the waves and appreciating the sea air.

The open-concept main living area features original wood paneling and fun nautical details. Gather around the wall-mounted flatscreen TV to watch your favorite shows or spread one of the classic boardgames supplied at the home across the coffee table for some friendly competition. The compact eat-in kitchen is outfitted with everything you need to prepare during your stay, and the round table here seats four comfortably. Just beyond, the Florida room offers a second living space with two couches including a double sleeper couch, a second TV and an additional dining table that seats six.

The master bedroom is furnished with a queen bed and offers a TV for personal entertainment. There is also an ensuite half bath for your convenience. The other two bedrooms are each furnished with a twin bed and a twin-over-double bunk bed. The shared full bathroom down the hall provides a step-in glass shower stall. A modest utility room offers a stackable washer and dryer so there’s no need to haul sandy towels and swimsuits back home.

Outside, the grassy fenced side yard is an oceanfront rarity, a ideal spot for dogs and kids to run off additional energy. The enclosed outdoor shower with hot and cold water is also appreciated when it comes time to rinse off after time spent on the beach. Cook out on the charcoal grille and dine al fresca at the classic picnic table under the shade of an umbrella. Listen to the crash of the waves from the oceanside deck, where you'll find plenty of cozy seating including classic rockers and even a modest breakfast bar ideal for enjoying morning coffee or evening drinks. Gates at either end of the deck make this a safe space for little ones as well and a cantilevered umbrella provides shade. Build castles in the sand, take long walks along the shore and make memories together to last a lifetime at Ivy Cottage.

Please note there are limited ocean vistas over dune line.

Rental booking tips:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Book your Carolina Beach rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and picking the rightvacation home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ivy Cottage: Dog-Friendly, Oceanfront Cottage with Fenced Yard has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
