Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Carolina Beach area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Oak Island. To get the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Finding the perfect rental home in Oak Island:

  • First and foremost, have your family choose vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Family friendly location. 15 min walk or 5 min drive to the beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is right for your family.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
