Important Information for Your Stay

At BHI Vacations, we want to ensure you have the best possible experience during your visit. Please note that while some homes may provide bicycles or beach towels, we do not maintain or guarantee their availability.

The Bald Head Island Club and Shoals Club operate independently from BHI Vacations, and guest memberships must be purchased directly through each club. Availability varies by home listing, and during the summer season, memberships may sell out quickly. To avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend securing your club membership as early as possible.

Additionally, the Bald Head Island ferry system is independently operated and not affiliated with BHI Vacations. To ensure a smooth arrival and departure, we encourage guests to book ferry and tram reservations well in advance.

Tips to get the best Carolina Beach rental home experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Reserve your Carolina Beach vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by selecting your trip dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Charming cottage nestled high on the dune ridge w\/both clubs! has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Have a great stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
