"Black Rose" is a great four bedroom home just a short cart ride to South Beach! The main living area consists of a king master suite and a guest room with two twins and a bathroom. We have a traditional floor plan with the living room, dining and kitchen on the first floor. We also have a great additional room off of the kitchen ideal for relaxation and some separation when needed :) Upstairs we have two more bedrooms. The first bedroom has a king bed and the other bedroom is all for the kids! We have two twins in a sizable open room, which is ideal for spreading out! Savor the broad front porch and expansive front yard. You feel like you have plenty of privacy yet simple access to all the amenities on the island. The Wildlife outlook is within walking distance so come see the gators

About the Area

Located in Bald Head Island, this vacation home is near the beach. Bald Head Island Lighthouse and Old Brunswick County Jail Museum are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Kent Mitchell Nature Trail and The Clubs at St. James. North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport and Bald Head Island Information Center are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

When to book & When to go:

  • To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have coupons for local tours and attractions.

  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
