Tips to get the optimal Carolina Beach vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Carolina Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain coupons for local tours and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • Start by having your group commit to dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Updated Oceanfront Cottage at OKI Pier w\/ Two Balconies has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If not, contact the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If there's a specific Carolina Beach destination you simply love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or might be applied to your agreement.

More considerations:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
