Our top Oak Island rental property booking tips:

When to go & When to book:

  • To get the most suitable rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Selecting and booking the best Carolina Beach rental:

  • First, have your family choose date ranges and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Tan and No Plan: Gorgeous Home with Pool, Hot Tub, Elevator! has 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If not, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is right for your group.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
