Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Oak Island rental home:

  • In the Carolina Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Carolina Beach area. Reserve your Carolina Beach vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the right Carolina Beach rental home:

  • Start by choosing the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Surfsong: Oceanfront Home in Private Setting on West Beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
