How to find the best Oak Island rental home experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Carolina Beach area. Book your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Carolina Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Carolina Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking a perfectrental home:

  • Select your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Change of Pace: Opt for a Change of Pace at this Beautiful Rental with Canal Vie has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
