Tips for getting the perfect rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to pick the best vacation rental in the Carolina Beach area:

  • First, have your family agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. OIB Luxury, Pool, Linens Included, Pets Allowed! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
