Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Summer is high season in the Carolina Beach area. To get the best value, shift your family's Carolina Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Carolina Beach area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick yourrental:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Fun in the Sun at Dreamsicle has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
