Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Wilmington. To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Carolina Beach restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Many rental management companies supply Carolina Beach area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by selecting your trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Escape on the Cape - Riverfront Sunset Views in Downtown Wilmington has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, email the host before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
