Tips to get the optimal Carolina Beach vacation home experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Carolina Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Carolina Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the right Carolina Beach rental home:

  • To start, have your group select dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Cozy Cottage with Park Views - Monthly Stays Available! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Carolina Beach beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
