Carolina Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:

How to get the best value:

  • In the Carolina Beach area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Oak Island. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beautiful 6 bedroom beach house with pool and elevator! Steps from the beach! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
