Vacation rental tips and tricks:

When to visit Sunset Beach & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Carolina Beach area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Carolina Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by having your group select a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. 308 Big Orange Country by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a particular Carolina Beach destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
