Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Carolina Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summertime is high season in Sunset Beach. To find the best value, shift your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Carolina Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Finding the best rental home in Sunset Beach:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 091 High Five by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a specific Carolina Beach beach you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More considerations:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
