Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Carolina Beach area. To get the best vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectvacation home:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Wrightsville Beach ~ Only 2 Houses from the Ocean has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
