Oak Island vacation rental booking tips:

When to go & When to book:

  • In the Carolina Beach area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • To get the most suitable rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Carolina Beach area travel guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the best rental home in the Carolina Beach area:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. The Painted Turtle - Coastal Vacation Resorts has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
