Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Holden Beach. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Carolina Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • Choose your dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. The First Catch at Holden Beach - 5Bd, 3 Ba, Dogs! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's an individual Carolina Beach attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
