New to PROACTIVE Vacations! "The Barnacle" is one of the most historical
homes on Holden Beach! On the oceanfront, above the dunes and beach, "The
Barnacle" greets you indoors with lively art and regional photography by the original
owner, a nature-loving professional artist. He and his wife designed the home to savor
ever-changing vistas and pleasures of the enticing Atlantic Ocean— sunrises, sunsets,
the far horizon, striking skies, native growth, sand and surf. All are viewed through a
full façade of windows or accessed by a private footpath to the ocean. "The
Barnacle" features weathered-wood accents, natural driftwood, shells from the sea,
and other authentic artifacts of Holden Beach. A ship's anchor rests near the entrance,
and the face of a noble Sea Captain, carved into a post of the dining area by the
owner, overlooks the ocean and ends up in rather a few group photos of visiting guests.
The entryway displays a published biography of the life and times of the late artist-
owner, including those at Holden Beach. His wife preserves his legacy at this place
they adored by sharing their warm and inviting beach home with visitors.

The living room offers constructed-in couch and window bench seating, comfortable recliners,
a rocker, occasional tables, books, and fishnet window coverings for natural light and
ocean vistas. The dining table seats 8. The well-equipped kitchen provides the delight
of ocean vistas from 7 enormous windows while you create tasty home-cooked meals.
Ceiling fans add breezes in all living and sleeping areas. With 3 bedrooms and 2
bathrooms, the home comfortably accommodates 6 - 8 guests. Bedroom #1 has a
queen bed, #2 two full beds, and #3 two full beds. The two full bathrooms are shower-
only with one of the bathrooms positioned near the entryway. Downstairs an
additional outdoor shower with hot-cold water is enclosed, ideal for rinsing off after a
day on the beach.

While rocking away your cares on the covered oceanfront porch, watch shrimp boats
drag their nets and bathers appreciate the waves as seabirds sail the skies. Unwind and
relax on the sundeck, complete with a compass hand-carved into the deck floor.
Your toes can be in the sand in just a few mins. by way of the private beach
boardwalk. Search for your favorite seashells, sharks' teeth, driftwood, or other gifts
from the sea, or try your hand at surf fishing. Good luck awaits!
We hope that you will fall in adore with & "The Barnacle" just as much as we have, and
be a return guest, year after year!

Tips and Tricks to get the best Carolina Beach vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Holden Beach. Book your rental home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have deals for local tours and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. \"The Barnacle\" - Oceanfront Home, 3 Bedrooms \/ 2 Bathrooms has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available online. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.

Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
