Modern, comfortable and private accommodations at the beach. Our back yard is the Carolina Beach State Park with miles of wilderness and privacy. You can access the many walking trails in the park, starting directly from our back patio. Explore the shore of Snows Cut, climb Sugarloaf Dune along the Cape Fear River and be on the lookout for the Venus Flytrap, the rare carnivorous plant that grows wild in the park.
We have plenty of parking for cars and trailers and a full garage to store bicycles and gear. Our neighborhood is directly adjacent to the Island Greenway, a network of off-street trails, parks and spectacular areas chosen for their safety, beauty and convenience. It's a great way to discover Kure Beach, Fort Fisher, the Carolina Beach Boardwalk or the North End of Carolina Beach. Ask us about bicycle rental options if you don't want to bring your own.
Kayak, Paddle Board and Jet Ski units are available next door at the State Park Marina. If you are bringing a boat or jet ski with you, your trailer will be safe in our yard. We are located directly between the two boat ramps on the North end of the island: the State Park Marina and Wildlife boat ramps. It's also a short drive to the Fort Fisher boat launch on the South end of the island. Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach and Southport are all directly accessible by boat from our launches. Here is a locals tip for a ideal beach day when you have a boat: head to the uninhabited Masonboro Island and find a secluded place to anchor up. You'll have the beach all to yourself.
Ready for a day on the sand? Here are a few of our suggestions on the best way to appreciate our beaches:
Beach parking is best at Fort Fisher State Park. It's close, it's a short, impressive drive and the beach is elegant. In Carolina Beach, you can park in one of the public or private tons or at any of dozens of beach accesses. Virtually every street that meets the ocean is a beach access. Kure Beach has public and private parking options as well.
Four wheel drive is our preferred way of getting on the sand. If you have 4x4 we highly recommend checking out Freeman Park on the North end of Carolina Beach, or the Fort Fisher State Recreation area on the South end of the island. Both allow you to take your car on the sand, right to the surf line.
We already mentioned finding secluded beaches by boat. Here are more ideas and different ways to savor our beaches: Rent a golf cart to access cart only parking at the boardwalk and at beach accesses. Gather shells as you walk the sand from Tiki Bar Pier to the North End Pier. If you are feeling adventurous, ride a fat wheel bicycle from the Fort Fisher Aquarium to Bald Head Island, a twenty mile round trip.
When you are ready for some rest, we've made our place comfortable and calming. Wifi is fast and reliable throughout the entire property. There are two king bed suites plus a third bedroom with double bed and it's own bathroom. All bedrooms have Roku TVs. If you need more sleeping space for the kids, there is plenty of room for a blow up bed or two. There is an outdoor deck with seating off the kitchen and an outdoor dining area on the ground floor patio in the back yard.
The main living area is on the second floor. The kitchen is well equipped. The dining room set is sizable and seats eight. Next to the dining room is a desk and workspace for those that need it. The living room is comfortable, cavernous and has a enormous Roku TV, the half bath in the main living area is convenient for all.
Our island has so much to see and do and there is even more to check out in surrounding areas. Our number one day trip recommendation is to ride the Fort Fisher Ferry to Southport, a cozy fishing village at the mouth of the Cape Fear River. Grab lunch at one of the eateries along the waterfront.
Downtown Wilmington is another recommended day trip. Walk around the historic district which offers top notch shopping and dining. Hop a water taxi from the downtown docks to cross the river and tour the Battleship North Carolina.
