How to get the best Carolina Beach vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • In the Carolina Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, property management companies supply Carolina Beach area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. SL1501L: Starfish Cottage Lower: Oceanfront, Dog-Friendly Vintage Cottage has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Have a great stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
