How to find the best vacation property experience:

When to visit Oak Island & When to reserve a Carolina Beach rental home:

  • Summer time is high season in Oak Island. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Carolina Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Carolina Beach area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect vacation home in Oak Island:

  • Choose dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Private, quiet, and short walk to the beach, with new heated pool! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Carolina Beach vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your contract.

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
