Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Oak Island. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Carolina Beach area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectvacation home:

  • Select your dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Private pool, easy walk to the beach and a beautiful ocean views! Seaside Shenanigans has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
