From Holden Beach Town Hall:
The Beach Strand: (Use CAMA marked public access points unless you are entitled to use designated private walkways to the beach as a rental customer or property owner.) 1. The line of sand dunes with fragile beach vegetation along the south side of Ocean Boulevard provides protection from storms. Please do not walk over the dunes to the ocean. Use the wooden walkways and ramps. Public walkways are marked with a CAMA sign. Others are private. Collect sea shells and other “beach treasures” at your leisure. 2. Only emergency and official Town Staff cars are allowed to drive on the beach. 3. There are no lifeguards when swimming. RIP TIDES can kill you. Check with Town Hall (842-6488) to see if RIP TIDES are in present. If you get caught in a rip tide pulling you away from shore, swim parallel to the shoreline until you get out of the current — do not try to swim against the current back to shore. 4. A trendy place to “fish, wade, and shell” is at the extreme east end of the island along McCray Street . Be aware there is dangerous underwater debris in that area that should be avoided at periods of high tide — at low tide you can see it. The Town checks the beach daily, if dangerous debris is noticed, call Town Hall (842-6488). 5. Jet Skis should only be operated outside 500 feet from shore. Do not ride skis onto the beach strand. Town Courtesy Patrol personnel ride the beach during the summer to monitor this activity. 6. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed anywhere on the beach strand — or in any public place. 7. Trash receptacles are placed along the beach for your convenience, please do not litter. 8. Animals are not allowed on the beach from May 20 to September 10, except between 5 P.M. and 9 A.M. daily. Family Pets must be on a leash at all times on the island. 9. No surfboard shall be carried, pushed, wheeled, ridden or otherwise used on the beach strand and/or adjacent ocean waters within 500 feet of any fishing pier located on or adjacent to property within Town limits. 10. It is unlawful to dig into the sand on any part of the beach strand greater than 12 inches deep, without having a responsible person attending the area. Prior to leaving the area, any hole greater than 12 inches deep shall be filled to be level with the surrounding area, leaving the area in the same general condition in which it was found. 11. Beginning April 23, 2011, all unattended beach equipment must be removed from the beach by its owner or allowed user on a daily basis between the hours of 6PM and 7AM. Click here to read the ordinance with specific details. Boating & Fishing: (Boat ramps are located under and near the bridge.) 1. If you fish in the surf, please be courteous to those swimming and calming close by. 2. Effective January 1, 2007, a North Carolina Coastal Recreational Fishing License is required. Licenses are available from any DMF office, WRC license agents (which includes most Wal-Mart stores), online at WRC’s website, www.ncwildlife.org or by calling 888-248-6834. 2. You may not land your powered boat anywhere along the oceanfront. Sail boards and modest sail boats may temporarily land along the beach. Be careful of swimmers. 3. Observe NO WAKE zones along the Intracoastal Waterway. Island Wide Ordinances: ( Note posted speed limit signs) 1. No Parking on Ocean Boulevard or McCray Street, except for the northern end of McCray Street east of Dunescape Drive. Observe signs for exact parking prohibitions. The biggest public parking lot is under the bridge. Public Restrooms are located there as well. An unloading and pedestrian “drop-off” point is located at the bridgehead west of Cap‘t Pete‘s Apartments. Park all along Brunswick Avenue East and West. Do not block driveways or fire hydrants. 2. Bikes, roller-blades and pedestrians please share the sidewalk. No roller-blades on Ocean Boulevard. 3. FIREWORKS (except for sparklers) are not allowed on the island. They will be confiscated by the Police if found. Please see the holden beach website: https://holdenbeachnc.com/holden-beach-rules-and-regulations/ Take care of the turtles. At nighttime before retiring, turn off all lights that face the ocean, including carports, and, if staying up late, close blinds and draperies in oceanfront rooms between May 1st and October 31st. Visit http://www.hbturtlewatch.org to learn more of this appealing event that you may encounter.
From the owners:
Life is a Beach. The Beach is a Beach. The home is not the beach :-)
Please wash off the sand and dump the shells before entering the home. Plumbing may handle a little bit of sand down a drain, but can quickly clog if abused. Be safe and shake the sand out of clothes and towels before washing. Please don't re-decorate or re-arrange furnishings. If the decorum or nature of the furnishings is not compatible with your stay, please contact the owner. We are happy to discuss potential options of how to improve your stay. The owners have brought their dogs to the home during remodel. Pets were never allowed on any furnishings nor upstairs. Although this is not a pet-friendly home for renters, and no pets will be brought to the home during peak season, the owner reserves the right to bring their pets to the home during the off season; they are never allowed up stairs or on any furnishings at any time, in any way... they're rather lazy loungers. However, if you or someone in your event have had severe allergies to pets, you may want to reconsider SeaDated.

Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Carolina Beach rental home experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer is high season in the Carolina Beach area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Carolina Beach area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Carolina Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain deals for local shops and restaurants.

How to pick the perfect rental in Holden Beach:

  • Select vacation dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. OCEANFRONT, Renovated 4BR, 3BA Home Sleeps 8 has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.

During your stay:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
