Booking the best rental experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Wilmington. To get the best value, try changing your family's Carolina Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and choose your prefectrental:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Middle of Wrightsville Beach and Downtown! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If not, email the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
