Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Luxe Blue- Oceanfront Retreat has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Carolina Beach vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
