Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Wilmington vacation property experience:

When to reserve a Carolina Beach rental home & When to go:

  • To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • In the Carolina Beach area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Carolina Beach area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best rental home in Wilmington:

  • Start by having your group decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Hemingway Retreat: 2 BR, 2 BA Apartment in Wilmington, Sleeps 4 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
