Unwind with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. Plenty of property for the adults and a park across the street to keep the kids entertained. Located in the Downtown area and within walking distance to many of the areas fashionable attractions. Take a 15/20 min. drive to the beach and appreciate the sun and sand! Want to have an appealing nighttime, make reservations at any of the top rated eateries with spectacular vistas and finish the evening at one of our rooftop bars or relax and stay in!

SMOKING: We are a smoke-complimentary-home, including the front and backyard. This includes vaping. If you smoke, leave the premises (meaning NO smoking outside the home either). We charge $500 for smoking outside and $2,000 for smoking inside + all restoration, cleaning, and remediation costs.

Any smoking or drugs on the premises, your stay will be cancelled and you will have to leave the property immediately.

Princess Place, a neighborhood in Wilmington, is home to this vacation home. Bellamy Mansion Museum and Brooklyn Arts Center at St. Andrews are local landmarks, and some of the area's attractions include Carolina Heights and Cape Fear Museum. Children's Museum of Wilmington and Wilmington Railroad Museum are also worth visiting.

Find your perfect rental:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To book the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Carolina Beach restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Carolina Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by having your group decide on trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Downtown Urban Retreat has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
