Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Sunset Beach. Booking your Carolina Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Carolina Beach area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
