When to visit Oak Island & When to reserve a Oak Island rental home:

• In the Carolina Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
• Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
• Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
• Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before booking the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
• Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
• Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
• Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

• Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.

• Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
• Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
• Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.

If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it.
