Rental home tips:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Carolina Beach area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.

Filter your search:

  • To start, have your group commit to dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Beach Treat: 3 Bed\/2 Bath Chic Home with Spacious Deck, Close to Beach Access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Carolina Beach vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If there's an individual Carolina Beach destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
