Booking the best Oak Island vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Carolina Beach area. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Carolina Beach area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the best vacation home in Oak Island:

  • Select dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Weekend Rescue: 10 bedroom, 10.5 bath ocean view new construction with pool and has 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a specific Carolina Beach beach you simply love, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
